No Matter How Cold the Winter, There's a Springtime Ahead

As the chill of winter begins to fade, signs of a new season emerge: short sleeve shirts, March Madness, and the anticipation of Major League Baseball's Opening Day. For many, myself included, this transition signifies the approach of a favorite time of year, filled with promise and opportunity. This is the time to imagine the Mets winning the World Series or James Madison winning the NCAA Basketball Tournament.

Reflecting on my days in minor league baseball, March was always a challenging month. The countdown to Opening Day loomed large, demanding long hours and intense preparation. Yet, amidst the grind, there was an undeniable excitement in the air as we prepared to welcome the community back for another season of affordable family entertainment.

In contrast, my non-baseball life during March is more tranquil but no less invigorating. Recently, I seized the opportunity to embrace the mid-sixties weather, venturing outdoors with a book, a sandwich, and nothing but my thoughts. It was a moment of quiet reflection, a chance to recharge amidst the natural beauty surrounding me.

However, this year's winter seemed particularly relentless, dragging on with its cold spells and rainy days. It left me feeling sluggish, lacking the usual momentum as the new year began. Determined not to fall into old habits of setting unrealistic goals, I opted for a simpler approach: focusing on consistent progress rather than perfection.

Sitting on a rock overlooking the water, I decided to act. Recognizing that I thrive when I maintain consistency and structure, I resolved to hold myself to a higher standard in all aspects of life – from business to health to personal growth. It's not about overexertion, but rather about embracing my strengths and committing to meaningful progress.

As the grip of winter loosens its hold, I'm ready to shed unproductive behaviors and embrace a renewed sense of purpose. It's time to return to what I do best, leaving behind the stagnation of the past and stepping boldly into the possibilities of the future.

Spring is more than just a change in weather; it's a symbol of renewal and growth. And as the season unfolds, I'm prepared to seize every opportunity, knowing that the journey ahead is one filled with promise and potential (Let’s Go Mets!).
